Creating Opportunities for Real Education
CORE is an outreach programme available to 16-18 year olds based off-campus at College House in Barrow in Furness. You can enrol at CORE at any time in the year on one of a range of full and part-time courses. The courses at CORE provide a variety of subjects and experiences to develop your skills and confidence guiding you towards the next stage of your education or employment. Tutors make the learning relevant and fun, building on existing skills whilst using technology and practical tasks to cater for all learning styles.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for CORE, only a willingness to learn and evidence of prior achievements/assessments showing an ability to work towards an Entry Level 3 and/or Level 1 qualification(s).

Courses at College House
Time will be spent in practical and theory classes on a variety of activities that will enhance employability and personal and social development. Your studies will be a mixture of classroom and remote learning personalised to suit your needs. As a student at Furness College you will get free access to a wide range of resources including Microsoft Office 365.
You will have the opportunity to study Health and Social Care, Customer Service Skills, Employability or Projects. In addition to this you can access work experience and improve your maths and English. You will have an individual assessment to ensure that you are placed on to the appropriate level in maths and English in either Functional Skills or GCSE.
Other available courses
CORE in the Community. Do you have difficulties accessing education or have you had a bad experience in education? CORE in the Community is designed to support you getting back into education, building your programme at your pace to support your progress back into education or progression into employment. We will discuss with you how, when and where you can complete your studies.
Progression
At CORE we support you to achieve your own ambitions. Your course of learning will be tailored to meet your ideal progression route. You may progress on to a full-time course, further training, an apprenticeship, a supported internship or employment.
Previous CORE students are now working in the construction, catering and hospitality, health and social care and retail sectors.
