T Levels are a new two-year qualification for 16 to 19 year olds. Designed with employers, each T Level is equivalent to 3 A levels and will help young people develop the knowledge, attitude and practical skills to thrive in the workplace. At the heart of each course, a 45-day industry placement will give you early access to the brightest talent entering your market.
T Levels – An overview from our Assistant Principal Sue Hannan
Our Assistant Principal for Curriculum Sue Hannan talks about the range of T Levels offered at Furness College from 2021 and how an industry placement can lead students straight into the workplace. One T Level is equivalent to 3 A Levels and this qualification is suited to those who are clear on their career path and want to bring new ideas to employers as part of their qualification.
The introduction of T Levels is an important step towards futureproofing the Cumbrian economy by helping create the higher-level technical skills needed to grow industry. It brings technical qualifications into parity with A Levels.
Industry placements are a great way to bring new talent into your organisation. You’ll partner with a local college, school or training provider who can help you:
• find the right student
• assist with paperwork
• support you to plan and deliver the best possible placement
“Students are getting a high-quality science education in a college environment or school, but they’re also getting a real insight into work that can build confidence in their career choices especially as a T Level can be a bridge straight into a career or into a higher qualification.” Sue Alexander, Principal Biomedical Scientist and Trust Lead Scientist at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London
“I’m confident that we have developed a qualification that not only provides a useful basis of knowledge for a role within the IT sector, but also provides students with specialist skills and knowledge that equips them to walk into any IT business and hit the ground running from day one.” Tim Chapman, Lead for the Cyber Security Architecture and Design at Fujitsu and STEM ambassador
Education & Childcare
