You might know exactly what you want to do next, or you might still be exploring your options. Pathways at Furness College give you the opportunity to build your qualifications, develop practical and employability skills and prepare for your next step.

With Level 1 and Level 2 options, we can help you find a starting point that reflects your current qualifications, interests and future goals.

Alongside your programme, you will develop English and maths, build skills for employment and receive support to plan what comes next.

Level 1 Pathways

Develop your skills in an area that interests you.

Level 1 Pathways are ideal if you have typically achieved Grades 1 or 2 at GCSE and want to build your knowledge and practical skills before progressing further.

Choose from:

• Hospitality
• Motor Vehicle
• Engineering
• ICT
• Sport and Public Services
• Education and Childcare

You will develop subject-specific knowledge and practical skills alongside English, maths and employability skills, working towards a recognised Level 1 qualification.

Successful completion can help you prepare to progress to a higher-level college course, further training or employment.

Level 2 Pathway

Build your qualifications and work towards the course or career you want.

Level 2 Pathway is designed for learners who have typically achieved Grades 2 and 3 at GCSE but do not yet have the qualifications needed to access their preferred curriculum or career area.

You will study English and maths, develop employability and personal skills and take part in enrichment activities within the community.

You will also have opportunities to experience different areas of college through curriculum tasters in subjects such as Hospitality, Sport and IT. This gives you the chance to explore your interests while preparing for your next step.

More than qualifications

Pathways are about helping you develop the wider skills you need for your future. Depending on your programme, you will have opportunities to build:

• Confidence and independence
• Communication and teamwork
• Employability skills
• English and maths
• Practical and subject-specific skills
• An understanding of your future education and career options

Start when the time is right

You don’t have to wait until the next academic year to join us. Pathways accepts enrolments between September and April, giving you greater flexibility to start college during the year.
