Outcome of the public consultation on the proposed merger between Furness College and Blackpool and the Fylde College

We would like to thank everyone who took part in the public consultation on the proposed merger – which is intended to take effect from 1 August 2026. During the consultation period, we welcomed valuable input from a range of stakeholders, recognising the importance of this merger to all those involved.

The feedback received was largely positive, reaffirming our commitment to delivering a merger that we believe will provide long-term benefits for education and communities across Cumbria and Lancashire. Where concerns or questions have been raised, we will ensure these inform our implementation and strategic planning as we move forward.
