How long is the course?
This course will run for a half day.
How will I learn?
The course will be delivered in a classroom environment. You will be expected to participate in the session and produce work that meets the requirements of principles of the causes and spread of infection in health care settings unit.
What subjects will I study?
This introductory session will focus on the principles of the causes and spread of infection in health care settings. Learners will develop an understanding of the chain of infection and examine how infection is caused and the ways in which it can spread.
How will I be assessed?
The aim is to introduce the subject and gain a basic understanding of the many causes of, and the spread of infection. On successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to enrol on Level 2 in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care Settings. This is provided through a supported distance learning approach, either in College or your workplace.

No additional costs.
What are the entry requirements?
The course is suitable for anyone who already works in a health care setting and wants to develop their understanding of the many causes of, and the spread of infection. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this course. However, you may find it helpful if you have already achieved a Level 1 or 2 qualification in a health or social care related area.
