Furness College has been running a competition as part of its ‘Get Ready for Greatness’ campaign to show the impact of learning on people’s lives.
The college, which has campuses at Channelside and Rating Lane, tasked Year 6 primary school pupils throughout the area to design a poster on the theme: “What Makes Learning Great?”
The contest attracted more than 30 individual entries from schools including South Walney Junior School, Dalton St. Marys and Greengate Junior School.
The entries will be narrowed down to a winner, which will be announced in the new year.
School Liaison and Events Officer Sandra Rollinson said the idea of the competition was to get primary school pupils thinking about the next stage of their learning journey.
“We couldn’t run our annual Primary Engagement Day this year due to Covid-19 restrictions and it was so disappointing because we love the buzz of the young people around our campus and their obvious enthusiasm for learning.
“So, we decided to run a competition to capture that vibe and hear from them about why learning is great. The entries have been so wonderful and we can’t wait to announce the winner.”
Keep looking over our social media channels for the winner of the competition, who will secure a group day for their whole year group at the £47 million Channelside Campus where they can see learning in action and participate in some fun activities.
All these fantastic designs can be found on our brand-new Furness College Tik Tok account where we showcase all talents of the year 6 pupils and the winner will also be announced through our Tik Tok account.
