The Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner is suitable for learners who are new to the early years sector. This qualification prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with and care for children from birth to 5 years, and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

What Modules will you Study?
You will study a number of mandatory units, including the following topics:
• Health and well-being
• Legislation, frameworks and professional practice
• Play, development and learning for school readiness
• Professional development
How long is the course?
One year.
You will be required to attend Channelside campus one evening per week during term time, in addition to attending a placement in an early years setting.

Entry Requirements
What are the entry requirements?
Individual placements may have their own entry criteria.
Course applicants should have a passion for education and early years and be committed to attending and completing the course.
Applicants will be required to apply for and hold a clear enhanced DBS before starting the course. This will be applied for through College, at a cost of £56.
Progression
What opportunities will this lead to?
On completion of the Diploma, students may progress to a L3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or L3 Early Years Educator Standard Apprenticeship.
Students may secure employment in an early years setting.
