L2 Award in Barista Skills

Join us in Culinary Restaurant to learn how to create professional barista quality drinks.

During this short course you will explore the origins and processes which the products go through to create your favourite coffee.

You will learn how to choose and prepare ingredients for a variety of drinks.

You will learn how to use a barista machine.

You will drink coffee and have fun!

Our Barista courses take place within Culinary Restaurant at Channelside campus. We have small group sizes and offer delivery programmes to fit around work and family life. This course is popular with individuals and also groups of people who share a love for coffee and wish to develop their skills and CV.

Course cost: £50 per leaner

Fees:

£50 per learner.

Funding may be available if unemployed or earning less than £25,750 per year, subject to residency eligibility criteria.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements, other than a genuine desire to learn, a commitment to complete the course and a love for coffee!

Our adult learning courses are offered to learners aged 19 and over.

Progression

What opportunities will this lead to?

You may already work in the hospitality industry and wish to develop a new skill or gain a qualification. Achieving this qualification could support you in securing employment as a Barista.

Staff Profile
Lorna Claridge

After studying Hospitality Management in Manchester, Lorna gained hands on industry experience alongside her degree, working in a busy city-centre brasserie for renowned chef Paul Heathcote, as well as in events support and bar service roles. These early roles provided a strong grounding in front-of-house operations and customer service.

Following graduation, Lorna managed food and beverage operations at a private members' golf club in North London before moving to Lakeside Hotel, where she became hotel manager in 2003. Over 12 years, Lorna led the day to day running of an 80 bedroom four-star hotel, before moving into the role of HR and Training Manager. Lorna brought her extensive industry experience into education when she joined Furness College in 2021.
