The Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Computing for England offers a broad introduction to the subject area. You will gain a wide range of sector knowledge that is tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace scenarios.

This part time course is over 2 years. 2 weekly evening sessions. 4 units will be studied the first year, and the remaining 4 modules the second year.

Entry Requirements
What are the entry requirements?
Applications are dealt with on case by case basis but generally the pre-requisites to have the best opportunity to succeed on the course are:
• a BTEC Level 3 qualification in IT, Computing or Computer Science
• a T-level in IT, Digital, Computing, etc.
• a GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at A* to C (or equivalent) and/or 9 to 4 (or equivalent) in subjects such as maths and English other related Level 3 qualifications
• an Access to Higher Education Diploma from an approved further education institution
• relevant work experience
• an international equivalent to the above qualifications.

What opportunities will this lead to?
You could progress to a Level 5 or access a degree apprenticeship or full-time employment.
