Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration

Apprenticeships in Business Administration are for anyone who is going to handle the day to day tasks in an office and provide the support role within a business or organisation.

Course Content

What Modules will you Study?

Apprentice Level 2
Units studied may include: communication in a business environment, principles of providing administrative services, principles of business document production and information management, understanding employer organisations, managing personal performance and development and developing working relationships with colleagues.

Apprentice Level 3
Units studied may include: communicating in a business environment, managing personal and professional development, principles of business communication and information, principles of administration and principles of business.

What qualification will I achieve?

Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration

Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English would be achieved if the apprentices does not already hold the required qualification at the time of starting the apprenticeship standard.

How long is the course?

Typical Duration is between 18month to 24months*

How will I learn?

The overall delivery of the apprenticeship will take place with their employer using day to day working activities to help develop the apprentices underpinning knowledge, skills and behaviours.

In support towards the apprenticeship programme underpinning knowledge is delivered using a variety of different approaches to accommodate the needs of the learner and the employer.

Examples of this would include Apprentice Self-Study, Classroom delivery and support at reviews with an assigned development coach.

How will I be assessed?

On Programme Assessment – Level 2 English and Maths will need to be achieved, if not already, prior to taking the end point assessment.

 

Gateway – Before the assessments can take place the apprentice, the employer and the training provider have to agree that the apprentice is ready to be assessed.
 

End Point Assessment – Towards the end of the apprenticeship apprentices will be expected to take part in an end point assessment, this will assess how an apprentice can apply their skills, knowledge and behaviours acquired in their apprenticeship.

For the Business Administrator Standard, it is assessed on:

 

A Portfolio of Evidence – produced during the apprenticeship, containing evidence from real work projects which have been completed during the apprenticeship, usually towards the end, and which, taken together, cover the totality of the standard, and which is assessed as part of the end point assessment.

 

A Knowledge Test – Apprentices will be assessed against their general knowledge by taking a multiple choice online test.
 

A Project & Presentation - giving the apprentice the opportunity to undertake a business-related project followed by a presentation with an assessor*.
 

A Professional Discussion with an assessor* - exploring what has been produced in the portfolio.


* An independent assessor will be assigned to assess each element of the end point assessment and will then decide whether to award successful apprentices with a pass, a merit or a distinction.

Programme Specification

This apprenticeship is for individuals working within a business administrator role in any business.

Their role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services.

Their responsibilities are to support and engage with different parts of the organisation and interact with internal or external customers.

With a focus on adding value, the role of business administrator contributes to the efficiency of an organisation, through support of functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues as requested.

Entry Requirements

What are the entry requirements?

Individual employers will set the selection criteria, but this might include 5 GCSEs (A to C / 4 to 9), A levels, a level 2 apprenticeship or other relevant qualifications and relevant experience.



Employers are likely to be looking for a proven passion for digital and social media.
