Furness College welcomed more than 250 primary school pupils for a fun-filled day of activities on its annual Primary Engagement Day.
Pupils from schools across the area joined the event at the Channelside campus, which gave them an insight into courses offered and student life.
The year 6 pupils took part in a wide range of activities across the college’s curriculum areas from body art for hair & beauty in the salon to bowling in the carpentry & joinery area.
They explored the jungle in an I’m a Celebrity themed catering challenge, competed against each other in a quick-fire jigsaw puzzle and turned their hand to welding with our virtual welder.
Schools taking part included: Vickerstown, St. James’, Greengate, Roose, Ormsgill, Sacred Heart, South Walney, Burlington, Cambridge and Chetwynde. They were all led around the £47 million Channelside campus by staff and student volunteers.
Furness College’s Marketing and Communications Manager Kathryn Kittley said: “It has been fantastic to welcome back primary pupils to the campus.
“They were all excited to get involved in all the activities and it provided them the perfect opportunity to see what they enjoy at an early age and how college is here to help them achieve their ambitions.”
“The day is always very rewarding as we get to showcase our fantastic facilities to them and they can see that it is all on their doorstep and proves to them they can achieve anything if they put the effort in.”
