The move will see the Furness College logo feature on the front breast of the new Furness Raiders playing kits, as well as on the training wear.
With a vision to support the young people of Cumbria which aligns with our own, this partnership renewal will further strengthen the ties between the two organisations.
Furness Raiders helps keep local rugby league talent on our doorstep, with the opportunity to progress through to the Raiders first team.
Ryan Johnston, Charlie Emslie and Finn McMillan are just some of the players who came through the Furness Raiders pathway and will be part of the club’s first team squad for 2026.
Two more graduates, Seth Woodend and Dan Knott, signed their first professional deals with the club earlier this year.
Furness Raiders received official accreditation as an RFL Development Academy back in 2023. To this day, we continue to be the only club in Cumbria to be recognised as a Development Academy and a talent pathway.
“We are immensely proud to be continuing our support of Furness Raiders as they head into the new College League season,” said Scott Cubitt, principal and chief executive of Furness College.
“This is a truly exciting moment for every part of the club, from the men’s team to the growing Women’s Super League side, the impressive junior pathway, and the transformative work being done through the Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation.
“The energy and ambition across the whole organisation is inspiring, and it reflects the values we promote within our college community. To stand alongside the Raiders once again, as they enter what promises to be an exciting season, is an honour.
“Aligning ourselves once again with Raiders was an easy decision. We recognise the passion driving every part of the club.
“This investment in young people mirrors our own mission as a college: supporting local talent, local ambition, and a shared vision for what our community can achieve.”
Furness Raiders head coach Paul McMillan said: “The relationship we have built up with Furness College has gone to another level this year.
“We are indebted to them and their continued support has assisted in the growth of Furness Raiders year-on-year.
“Providing a career pathway into the professional game for the local talent is important to us at Barrow Raiders. For a local rugby player to be able to continue their studies/vocation alongside training and playing in the national College League cannot be underestimated.
