Furness College welcomed more than 220 primary school pupils for a day of fun activities on its annual Primary Engagement Day.
Pupils from schools across the area joined the event at the Channelside campus, which gave them an insight into courses offered and life as a student.
The Year 6 pupils took part in a range of activities across the curriculum from a hair roller timed challenge and body art in the salon to diagnosing a virtual patient in the clinical skills suite.
They tried a steady hand on the virtual welder, toured motor vehicle, completed a quick-fire jigsaw challenge in joinery and identified foods in an I’m a Celebrity competition in catering.
Schools taking part included South Walney, Vickerstown, Broughton, Sacred Heart, Greengate Juniors, St James’s, Ormsgill, North Walney, Roose and Ireleth. They were guided round the £47million Channelside campus by staff and student volunteers.
Furness College’s Marketing and Communications Manager Kathryn Kittley said: “It has been such a joy to welcome primary pupils back onto campus after a three-year absence due to the pandemic.
“They were enthusiastic about all the activities and said it had got them thinking about what they want to do in their future careers and how college can help them achieve their goals.
“Our theme for the day was ‘Of Course You Can’ and I have no doubt that the pupils can achieve whatever they want if they work hard and put their minds to it.”
