This introductory course will focus on understanding different attitudes to death and dying, the varying approaches (and their individual aims), to end of life care, and the support services available to people undertaking such a role.
This course typically takes 12 weeks to complete.
This course is distance learning, with the option of drop in support sessions at Channelside.
This course is fully funded for learners aged 19+ by The Adult Skills Fund.
Course Content
What Modules will you Study?
This introductory course will focus on understanding different attitudes to death and dying, the varying approaches (and their individual aims), to end of life care, and the support services available to people undertaking such a role.
This qualification aims to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of:
• how to work in end of life care
• the support needed to manage pain and discomfort
• how dementia impacts on end of life care
• the role of the care worker in time of death
• the loss and grief process.

Entry Requirements
What are the entry requirements?
The course is suitable for anyone who already works in a health care setting and wants to develop their understanding of how to work in end of life care. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this course. However, you may find it helpful if you have already achieved a Level 1 or 2 qualification in a health or social care related area.

What opportunities will this lead to?
The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to progress to similar qualifications at a higher level.
