L2 Developing Employability Skills

CORE is a programme available to 16–18 year olds at our Channelside campus. In our dedicated CORE unit, you’ll find a small, nurturing environment that helps you build confidence, develop new skills, and prepare for your next steps, whether that’s progressing to a wider college course or moving into employment.

CORE programmes offer a variety of subjects and experiences designed to make learning engaging and relevant. Our CORE Pathway Coaches support you every step of the way, helping you discover your strengths through practical tasks, the use of technology, and activities that suit different learning styles.

Course Content

What Modules will you Study?

Level 2 Developing Employability Skills

This is suitable for those who have already passed a level 1 qualification.

This qualification looks at enhancing employability skills and developing your own understanding of the vocational sector in a more critical way. Our level 2 course is perfect for students looking to stay with CORE for another year or to progress onto a higher qualification in a similar subject area. You will study vocational skills and personal development units alongside hands on and practical tasks.

How long is the course?

Students may take up to 12 months to complete the programme. You can enrol at any time throughout the year.

Entry Requirements

What are the entry requirements?

You will need evidence of prior achievement of a Level 1 qualification that shows your ability to work towards a Level 2 qualification. You will complete assessments with us to ensure that you are placed on to the right level of course for English and Maths.

Progression

What opportunities will this lead to?

It could lead to level 2 courses at any of the Furness College campuses, further training, an apprenticeship, a supported internship or employment.
