Furness College Students’ Union has this week launched a charter to help ensure the college is Covid-19 safe.
During the coronavirus pandemic, students will need to act responsibly. The Students’ Union and
the College expect certain things from all students to ensure that we can fight this virus effectively
and return to normal life. Students will be expected to uphold this charter whilst in college and on
You can expect
» Up-to-date guidance and support from the College to all students.
» Hand sanitiser provided in dispensers in communal areas.
» Regulated class sizes to ensure social distancing can be adhered to.
» A two-way communication channel between the College and students through the Learner
» To act in the best interests and safety of the students at all times.
» Adequate mental health support for any students affected by the pandemic.
You are expected
» To always wear face coverings when in communal spaces, except when eating in the
canteen, or if they are exempt as per college and government guidance.
» To make regular use of the handwashing facilities.
» To leave the College building if possible when not in lesson.
» To make regular use of the hand sanitiser available.
» To maintain social distancing at all times (one metre when two metres is not possible).
» To isolate for two weeks and undertake a coronavirus test if showing symptoms, inline with
college and national requirements.
Your Students’ Union is expected
» To maintain a dialogue with the College regarding the safety of its students.
» To regularly review this document.
» Not to run any events that may put students at risk of catching the virus.
» To support students who need additional support.
» Listen and support students through any concerns that they may have.
» Provide regular communication to students as circumstances change.
