Furness College Students’ Union joint presidents Gabe Scarpone and Jayden Milby attended the Barrow Town Centre Regeneration Scheme Public Consultation meeting to give the views of younger people on a planned £16m upgrade of the town centre. The idea to is re-imagine Barrow’s Market Hall, creating a destination for people of all ages with local and independent businesses, a food and drink hall and area for children and families. The students, pictured with Barrow Borough Council’s capital programme manager David Haughian, spoke about the need for experiences in the town to attract younger people, identified what was missing, gave views on the idea for event space and suggested that any building projects should be made available for local contractors wherever possible.
