Students at Furness College enjoy third annual Freshers’ Fair

Hundreds of new and returning students from our Channelside and Barrow Sixth Form College campuses attended the third cross-campus Freshers’ Fair this week.

Exhibitors including Lucozade, National Trust, Inspira, TOTUM, NHS, DW FitnessFirst and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award gathered in the sports hall to talk to students, with many offering advice and information on the services offered to help develop them professionally.

Representatives from the college’s gym, student services team and Students’ Union were also on hand to introduce students to the range of ways they can make the most of their time at Furness College, with a range of exciting programmes outside of the classroom such as Fit4Work. Students were also able to get their adrenaline pumping by scaling an outdoor rock-climbing wall.

Organised by the Student Services team alongside the Furness College Students’ Union, the Freshers’ Fair was also a chance for students based at the Rating Lane campus to find out more about the facilities and opportunities on offer to them at Channelside.

Sarah Carter, Student Services Manager, said: “We were pleased to welcome our students and exhibitors to what is now the third successful Freshers’ Fair.

“It’s been a great way for students to experience the range of opportunities across our campuses here at Furness College and find out what being a ‘fresher’ here is all about.

“I’d also like to thank the businesses and groups who attended and helped to make the event a success.”
