Level 2 Pathways

Level 2 Pathway is a one-year, full-time programme designed to help you build the qualifications, skills and experience you need to progress towards your chosen course or career.

The programme is ideal if you know what you would like to do next but have not yet achieved the GCSE grades or qualifications needed to access your preferred curriculum area.

Alongside English and maths, you will develop valuable employability and personal skills, take part in enrichment activities and have opportunities to experience different curriculum areas through practical taster sessions.

Throughout the programme, you will be supported to build your confidence, explore your options and prepare for your next step.

Course Content

What Modules will you Study?

Level 2 Pathway combines English and maths with employability, personal development and opportunities to explore different areas of college.

Your programme will include:
• English and maths
• Employability skills
• Communication and teamwork
• Personal development
• Confidence and independence
• Preparing for further study and employment
• Community-based enrichment activities
• Curriculum taster sessions
• Exploring careers and progression opportunities

You will have opportunities to take part in tasters in curriculum areas such as Hospitality, Sport and IT, helping you develop new skills and learn more about the options available to you.

Entry Requirements

What are the entry requirements?

Level 2 Pathway is suitable for learners who have typically achieved Grades 2 and 3 in their GCSE subjects but do not currently meet the entry requirements for their preferred curriculum area.

We are looking for learners who:
• Are motivated to work towards their chosen course or career
• Are willing to develop their English and maths
• Are committed to attending college regularly and taking part in learning
• Are willing to explore different curriculum and career opportunities
• Are ready to develop their employability and personal skills

We will work with you to understand your goals and make sure Level 2 Pathway is an appropriate next step.

Progression

What opportunities will this lead to?

The programme is designed to prepare you to progress to further study, training or employment. Successful completion could help you move onto a course within your preferred curriculum area, depending on the entry requirements for that programme and the progress you make. Your tutors will support you to explore your options and plan a progression route that reflects your interests, skills and career ambitions.
