Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Common Childhood Illnesses

This course is designed for people who are wanting to start working in, or already working in health and social care and who would like to develop their knowledge, understanding and awareness of common childhood illnesses to enable them to support the development and wellbeing of infants and children they support/care for.

This course is distance learning where you can study at your own pace, with the option of drop-in support sessions at Channelside. There is a range of courses in the suite but enrolment is only possible to one course at a time.

What Modules will you Study?

There are three mandatory units:
• Understand How to Provide a Safe and Healthy Environment for Babies and Young Children
• Understand Common Childhood Illnesses
• Understand Health Emergencies and Specific Health Conditions in an Early Years Setting

This course typically takes 12 weeks to complete.

Entry Requirements

What are the entry requirements?

The course is suitable for anyone who has an interest, or already works in a health care setting and wants to improve and develop their knowledge and understanding. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this course.

However, you may find it helpful if you have already achieved a Level 1 qualification in a health or social care related area.

What opportunities will this lead to?

The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to: Progress to similar qualifications at a higher-level and Access to HE diploma.
