Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Care Planning

This course is designed for people who are wanting to start working in, or already working in health and social care and who would like an understanding of care planning.

This course aims to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of:

• The principles and processes of person-centred thinking, planning and review.
• How to work with individuals to carry out activities specified in their care or support plan, including person-centred assessment, planning, implementation and review.
• The promotion of health and well-being through nutrition and hydration.
• Supporting individuals to manage continence and the use of continence equipment.
• Supporting individuals with sleep.

This course is distance learning where you can study at your own pace, with the option of drop-in support sessions at Channelside. There is a range of courses in the suite but enrolment is only possible to one course at a time.

Course Content

What Modules will you Study?

You are required to complete six mandatory units:

• Understanding person-centred thinking and planning
• Care planning for the care worker
• Understanding nutrition and hydration in health and social care settings
• Principles of supporting an individual to maintain personal hygiene
• Understanding continence care
• Principles of supporting sleep

How long is the course?

This course typically takes 12 weeks to complete.

Entry Requirements

What are the entry requirements?

The course is suitable for anyone who has an interest, or already works in a health care setting and wants to improve and develop their knowledge and understanding. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this course.

However, you may find it helpful if you have already achieved a Level 1 qualification in a health or social care related area.

What opportunities will this lead to?

The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to: Progress to similar qualifications at a higher-level Access to HE diploma.
