Interested in learning the basics of welding?
This entry-level course
provides a practical introduction to welding in a supportive workshop
environment. Designed for adults aged 19 and over, it is ideal for beginners who
would like to gain experience, build confidence and practise the fundamental
skills used in welding.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop your practical
skills and gain an understanding of welding techniques, helping to prepare you
for progression to certificated training in Manual Metal Arc (MMA) or Tungsten
Inert Gas (TIG) welding.
Whether you’re considering developing your skills
for work, looking to progress within the engineering sector or simply want to
find out if welding is the right next step for you, this course provides an
accessible starting point.
Course fee: £90 per learner.
Duration: 10
weeks, Tuesday or Wednesdays 5.30 – 8.30pm

Course Content
What Modules will you Study?
This course is focused on practical, hands-on
learning and will introduce you to the basic skills and techniques used in
welding.
During the course, you will develop your understanding
of:
• safe working practices in a welding workshop
• welding
equipment and its correct use
• preparing materials ready for
welding
• basic welding techniques and processes
• developing
control, accuracy and consistency when welding
• recognising and
improving the quality of your welds
• the skills required to progress to
further welding training.
The course will give you the opportunity to
practise your skills in a workshop environment and build confidence before
progressing to certificated Manual Metal Arc (MMA) or Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG)
welding training.
No previous welding experience is required.

This is an introductry course. On successful completion you may develop your skills further by enrolling on the Level 1 award in Metal Insert Gas (MIG) Welding or Manual Metal Arc (MMA) Welding.
