College reopening: Update from Principal and Chief Executive Andrew Wren

As we move through the summer towards September, we are preparing the campuses for a full reopening.

This will not mean business as usual as we will be limiting the number of people on site each day, but we aim to open to all our students. Some students will continue to be taught remotely for theory lessons.

We plan to reopen both campuses for enrolment on September 2nd with induction at Channelside that week. Teaching is scheduled to start at Rating Lane on September 9th and Channelside on September 10th. Induction for sixth form will be on September 8th.

We will be in touch with students closer to the time to confirm when they should be in college. It is not too late to apply online (www.furness.ac.uk) for a place to start at college in September.

The safety of our staff and students is our top priority and all of this remains subject to high-level and local risk assessments, Government and regional guidance, and the data for infection rates supporting such moves.

We hope everyone is safe and well and we are looking forward to seeing you all at the start of term.
