Top achiever Owen Wilson had his dad on hand for support at A level results day – and it was all smiles as he got his grades.
The 17-year-old secured A*s in maths and further maths and an A in physics and will be heading to the University of Manchester to study a degree in maths.
His dad, Scott, a lecturer and curriculum leader in craft engineering at Furness College’s Channelside campus, joined him at the Rating Lane campus alongside his mum.
The former Furness Academy pupil is now ready to swap college for the city lifestyle.
Owen said: “I’m very happy to get what I needed. The tutors at sixth form were all brilliant, I cannot fault them. I’m excited to go to university and have the experience of living away from home. I don’t have any career plans yet, so I’d like to see how things go at uni and then make up my mind.”
Proud dad Scott said: “Owen has worked so hard and I’m very proud of him. He was a bit disappointed when his exams were cancelled as he likes challenging himself, but he’s got the grades he needs.
“I’ll miss him when he goes away to uni, but I’m looking forward to visiting him in Manchester and going to gigs.”
