Level 3 Diploma in Care

This qualification is designed for those who wish to work or are already working in health and social care settings in England. Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement, as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

The qualification covers a wide range of areas, and allows learners to tailor the the qulaification to meet their needs, interests and preferred progression path.

Fees: £3,670.80. Subject to change.
Course length: 34 weeks

This course may be fully funded through Free Courses for Jobs, or you may be eligible for funding through an Advanced Learner Loan.

You may be eligible for Free Courses for Jobs funding if you are aged 19+, unemployed or earning less than £25,750 per year.

Course Content

What Modules will you Study?

You will study mandatory units, with optional units chosen to meet your current role needs or interests.

Mandatory units:


  • Promote communication in care settings

  • Handling information in adult care

  • Promote own continuous personal and professional development

  • Person-centred practice, choice and independence

  • Understand how to promote personal wellbeing

  • Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights in a care setting

  • Promote health and safety in care settings

  • Support the health and wellbeing of individuals in a care setting

  • Scope and responsibilities of an adult care worker

  • Understand duty of care

  • Understand how to safeguard individuals

  • Understand mental capacity and restrictive practices

  • Infection prevention and control in a care setting

Entry Requirements

What are the entry requirements?

Learners must hold a relevant level 2 qualification or relevant experience, plus a current and clear DBS.

Learners must be working or volunteering in a relevant role.

Progression

What opportunities will this lead to?

On completion of this qualification learners may progress directly into employment in roles such as:
  • Lead adult care worker
  • Senior care support worker
  • Lead personal assistant
Learners may wish to continue studies in health and social care at level 4 and above.
