You are invited to spend a day at the Sixth Form College. The purpose of the day is to introduce the College and to allow you to experience what it is like to study here. You will be able to meet some of the College staff and students and go to four subject periods.
The Taster Days will be held on different dates for different schools:
30th June – St Bernards and John Ruskin
1st July – Furness Academy and Chetwynde
5th July – Dowdales and Walney
On Tuesday 5th July, there will a session held for ALL Parents from 4pm – 4:30pm.
There are subject sessions at 10.15 am, 11.15am, 12:00pm and 1.30 pm. Please select FOUR different subjects so a timetable can be created for the day. In making your choices, please be realistic about choosing subjects which either you are already studying at GCSE or which are not offered at GCSE eg Psychology, Law. There will be a very limited number of places available for Art, Biology, Chemistry, D&T and Physics. You should only opt for these subjects if you are seriously considering studying them at A level.

11.00 – 11.15 BREAK
11.15 – 12.00 Subject session 2
12.00 – 12.45 Subject session 3
12:45 – 13.30 LUNCH
13:30 – 14:15 Subject session 4
14.15 – 14.30 Closing session with School Engagement Coordinators and evaluation forms completed / Honours Session.
You should bring with you normal writing equipment, money to buy lunch if required, indoor games kit if you have opted for sport.
