How long is the course?
The course is 7 weeks long and you will need to attend college on a Wednesday 10.30 – 4 pm and a Friday 9 – 12 am.
How will I learn?
You will learn through a mix of directed learning, on line activities and practical workshops.
What subjects will I study?
You will need to be able to consult with the client, prepare and plan for the treatment. You will also need to provide aftercare advice to the client, particularly around the avoidance of certain activities and the use of home care products. To carry out this unit you will need to maintain effective health, safety and hygiene throughout your work. You will also need to maintain your personal appearance and good communication with the client.
As part of this unit you will also learn the anatomy and physiology relevant to this topic.
How will I be assessed?
All the practical work is assessed in the salon on paying clients; practical work and oral questions prove knowledge. There are two online exams and a portfolio of evidence will be built up through the course.
Home study and practice will be required.
Are there any additional costs?
All students are expected to purchase the college uniform to complete practical assessments.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal entry requirements, however knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology would be an advantage. A good basic education is required. A caring approach and good communication skills are an asset. An interest in the subject is essential.
