How long is the course?
The course is of 600 hours duration studied over two years.
How will I learn?
A combination of workshop style, hands on and taught classroom sessions using industry standard equipment & lab facilities.
What subjects will I study?
The course consists of eight units studied over 2 years including:
• Engineering Environmental Health & Safety
• Organisational efficiency & improvement
• Engineering Principles
• Plus 5 optional units appropriate to the vocational craft area
How will I be assessed?
You will be required to complete:
• Training tasks
• Practical competence tests
• Portfolio of work
• Knowledge tests
These tasks will be internally set and marked with external moderation or external examinations.
Are there any additional costs?
You will need overalls, boots, stationery, calculator and drawing equipment.
What are the entry requirements?
The above programme is ideally suited to students who wish to develop both practical skills and technical knowledge and have an enthusiasm for engineering.
Students should have completed the Level 2 Engineering Foundation Programme or have 5 GCSEs at grades A - C (including English, maths and science).
