Full-time over one year.
How will I learn?
Through a combination of workshop demonstrations, hands on and taught sessions.
What subjects will I study?
This course is perfect if you want to gain employment in the Motor Vehicle industry. It will provide you with the knowledge required to perform basic maintenance checks, adjustments and component replacement on light vehicles. Units studied may include: tools, equipment and materials for vehicle maintenance, engine liquid cooling and lubrication systems, vehicle braking systems components and maintenance, routine vehicle maintenance processes and procedures on vehicles, vehicle wheels and tyres construction and maintenance, vehicle exhaust systems components and maintenance, steering and suspension systems components and maintenance.
Every full-time course will include a real experience of work.
Maths and English form part of this course and will be assessed at the relevant levels.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through practical competence, portfolio of work, knowledge tests and assignments.
Are there any additional costs?
You will need boots, overalls, and stationery equipment.
What are the entry requirements?
A minimum of two GCSEs at grades A – G, grades 9 - 1 (including maths and a science subject) or other equivalent qualifications. You will be required to attend a pre-entry assessment and interview.

What opportunities will this lead to?
Students can progress on to the Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, an Apprenticeship or employment in a garage setting. Progression is based on aptitude and a successful interview.
