How long is the course?
This course will run for a half day.
How will I learn?
The course will be delivered in a classroom environment. You will be expected to participate in the session and produce work that contributes to the requirements of Level 2 Different substances and drugs unit.
What subjects will I study?
This introductory session will focus on exploring the terms 'substance' and 'drugs', exploring different varieties of drug and examining how different drugs and substances can be categorised. You will look at the common names given to each drug, as well as the methods people use to take them and the effects they experience as a result.
How will I be assessed?
The aim is to introduce the subject and gain a basic knowledge and understanding of the impact of substance misuse. On successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to enrol on Level 2 in Substance Misuse Awareness. This is provided through a supported distance learning approach, either in College or your workplace.

No additional costs.
What are the entry requirements?
The course is suitable for anyone who already works in a health care setting and wants to improve and develop their knowledge and understanding of the causes and effects of substance misuse.
There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this course. However, you may find it helpful if you have already achieved a Level 1 or 2 qualification in a health or social care related area.
