Course Content
What Modules will you Study?
This introductory session will focus on exploring healthy diets and how a person’s diet directly affects their general health. You will also examine various lifestyle diseases, the role of different nutrients in assisting our bodies’ functions, how to plan a healthy meal and how to prepare food safely.
How long is the course?
This course will run for a half day.
How will I learn?
The course will be delivered in a classroom environment. You will be expected to participate in the session and produce work that contributes to the requirements of Level 2 Explore the principles of healthy eating unit.
How will I be assessed?
The aim is to introduce the subject and gain a basic knowledge and understanding of the impact of following a healthy diet. On successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to enrol on Level 2 in Understanding Nutrition and Health. This is provided through a supported distance learning approach, either in College or your workplace.
Entry Requirements
What are the entry requirements?
The course is suitable for anyone who already works in a health care setting and wants to improve and develop their knowledge and understanding of the importance of a balanced and nutritious diet. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this course. However, you may find it helpful if you have already achieved a Level 1 or 2 qualification in a health or social care related area.Can I get more information?
