Course Content

What Modules will you Study?

This is an apprenticeship standard that will help you acquire the knowledge to complete areas of study such as food and beverage service, barista, food production, concierge and guest services, housekeeping, reception services, reservation services or conference and events operations.



Throughout this apprenticeship you will develop your practical and theory skills, knowledge and understanding of relevant hospitality practices, health and safety, and customer service in order to prepare you for your end point assessment. 



You will be required to learn English and Maths, Functional skills and pass the assessment at level 1 before you can take your end point assessment. Once Level 1 is completed and achieved you will be expected to start working towards Level 2.


What qualification will I achieve?

  • Successful apprentices on completion, will achieve the Commis Chef Level 2 Standard. 
  • Functional skills in Maths and English would be achieved if the apprentices does not already hold the required qualification at the time of starting the apprenticeship standard.

How long is the course?

Minimum duration of 12 months up to 24 months.

How will I learn?

You will learn through a mix of directed learning, online activities and practical workshops and in your own work place. 

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through practical observations in a real working environment in college or your work place, oral questions, written tasks, assignments, mock exams to prepare you for your end point assessment. 
The end point assessment (EPA) is the final stage that you must go through before you can achieve your apprenticeship which assesses the standard of work and competence in your job role. An EPA will be conducted by an independent experienced and qualified third-party assessor who has not been involved in your training. You will be awarded a pass, merit or distinction on successful completion of the EPA.
The EPA assessment methods are an on-demand test, practical observation, business project and a professional discussion.

Entry Requirements

What are the entry requirements?

The Highfield Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship Standard will prepare you for a career in the hospitality industry. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over with a strong emphasis on learning by doing. This qualification has been designed for those who have a keen interest in the subject, who have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades A-D or grades 4 or above including English and Maths or a lLvel 1 in Hospitality Services or other equivalent qualifications or experience. You will also be required to attend an informal interview prior to acceptance on this course.

Progression

What opportunities will this lead to?

This qualification will prepare you for the next level of study and employment in the hospitality industry.
When you have successfully completed this qualification will have the opportunity to progress to a Level 3 Hospitality Supervisor Apprenticeship Standard. Or other qualifications such as:
•    Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership (NVQ) 
•    Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery 
•    Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery (Preparation & Cooking) 
•    Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery (Patisserie and Confectionery) 
•    Level 3 Certificate in Food and Beverage Service Supervision
