Introduction to Distance Learning - Mental Health Awareness
What are the entry requirements?
The course is suitable for anyone who already works with clients with mental health issues, anyone who wants to secure a job linked to mental health and anyone who wants to gain more knowledge for professional reasons. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this course. However, you may find it helpful if you have already achieved a Level 1 or 2 qualification in a health or social care related area.
What subjects will I study?
This introductory session will focus on what is mental health and developing an understanding of mental health. You will discuss various mental health issues, mental illness, psychological disorders, and what do we actually mean by good mental health?
How will I learn?
The course will be delivered in a classroom environment. You will be expected to participate in the session and produce work that contributes to Level 2 Understanding Mental Health unit.
How will I be assessed?
The aim is to introduce the subject and gain a basic understanding of mental health conditions. On successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to enrol on Level 2 Certificate in Awareness in Mental Health. This is provided through a supported distance learning approach, either in College or your workplace.
How long is the course?
This course will run for a half day.
