Introduction to Distance Learning - Dementia Care and Awareness
What are the entry requirements?
The course is suitable for anyone who already works in a health care setting and wants to develop the knowledge required to understand the impact and key issues surrounding dementia. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this course. However, you may find it helpful if you have already achieved a Level 1 or 2 qualification in a health or social care related area.
What subjects will I study?
This introductory session will focus on understanding the fundamentals of what dementia is. The key functions of the brain that are affected by dementia and other conditions that may be mistaken for dementia will also be explored.
How will I learn?
The course will be delivered in a classroom environment. You will be expected to participate in the session and produce work that meets the requirements of Level 2 Understanding what dementia is unit.
How will I be assessed?
The aim is to introduce the subject and gain a basic understanding of the fundamentals of what dementia is. On successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to enrol on Level 2 in Dementia Care and Awareness.This is provided through a supported distance learning approach, either in College or your workplace.
How long is the course?
This course will run for a half day.
