Introduction to Distance Learning - Care and Management of Diabetes
What are the entry requirements?
The course is suitable for anyone who already works in a health care setting and wants to improve and develop their knowledge and understanding to help provide the best care possible for people who are living with diabetes. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this course. However, you may find it helpful if you have already achieved a Level 1 or 2 qualification in a health or social care related area.
What subjects will I study?
This introductory session will focus on exploring the varying functions of glucose and insulin in the blood, the different forms and causes of diabetes as well as the risk factors associated with each type.
How will I learn?
The course will be delivered in a classroom environment. You will be expected to participate in the session and produce work that contributes to the requirements of Level 2 Understand diabetes unit.
How will I be assessed?
The aim is to introduce the subject and gain a basic knowledge and understanding of how diabetes effects those who develop the condition. On successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to enrol on Level 2 in Care and Management of Diabetes. This is provided through a supported distance learning approach, either in College or your workplace.
How long is the course?
This course will run for a half day.
