This NVQ is a work-based qualification that is suitable for people working in the electrical industry from domestic and industrial to panel wiring.
What subjects will I study?
Subject studied will include:
Ensure safe site working
Diagnose and correct faults in Electrotechnical systems and equipment.
Install electrical wiring systems, wiring enclosures and equipment.
Connect wiring systems and equipment using safe and approved methods.
Inspect, test and commission an electrical installation.
Other units can be studied to suit the needs of the student and the employer.
How will I be assessed?
The NVQ is assessed on practical work in the work place and a portfolio of work including questions giving an underpinning knowledge of electrical installation work, and will be assessed by a trained assessor coming into your working environment and assessing you on real installations that you are working on.
For apprentices we can also offer a framework of NVQ, Technical certificate and functional skills at level 2 and 3 to give your training the complete coverage of hands on practical assessment, academic understanding and help with improving maths and communication skills. The technical certificate is normally done on a day release and night school system in college.
How long is the course?
The NVQ is work-based and is designed to reflect the skills and knowledge of people who work in the electrical industry. The qualification is taken over 12-18 months depending on each individual.
