Level 2 Community Sports Leader Award

Summary

You will wish to develop your leadership skills and organise sporting and recreational activities.
It is a practical course and the assessment is therefore practical. It occurs through the candidates? ability to plan, deliver and evaluate a range of physical activities. It is a nationally recognised qualification and is hugely advantageous for anybody who wishes to follow a career in PE teaching, sports coaching, or any type of leadership. Students who wish to stay active in a group environment will also benefit from this.
You will take units in: organisational skills, safety in sport, know your friends, fitness for sport, games and activity experience and ten hours of voluntary leadership work. It is a superb way of gaining an additional qualification in a very practical setting.
No formal entry requirements are needed, other than an enjoyment of all sporting activities and a willingness to actively participate. It is especially useful for A level PE students looking to enhance their coursework coaching grade in an enjoyable way.
A Red Cross first aid certificate also forms part of the qualification.
