BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Applied Science

Summary

The BTec Level 3 Applied Science course will explore and develop practical skills in the science underpinning biological and chemical analysis. There are a wide variety of subjects covered in the course targeted both at progression into scientific industries and to higher education. Examples include: analytical chemical techniques, human physiology, properties and applications of waves, organic chemistry, microbiology and science investigation skills. The course is assessed both through exams and coursework. This will include assessed practical assignments, written reports and an externally assessed independent investigation to be completed throughout the second year of the course.
On completion of this course, you can progress into any relevant scientific industry or a higher level of study. You could also choose to study a number of subjects at university including: the sciences, pharmacy, forensics, nursing, radiography, pathology and many more.

In applying for the L3 Foundation Diploma course, this will be your sole main area of study; if you successfully complete two years on this course, you will achieve the Extended Diploma, the equivalent of three A levels.

Entry Requirements

To study BTec L3 Applied Science, you will need to achieve 2 grade 4s or better in GCSE science qualifications; you must also meet the general entry requirements
