An exciting introduction to enhance and complement the engineering courses offered, this multi-disciplinary course is designed as a first step for learners seeking a career in the engineering sector which includes; Electrical, Fabrication, Welding, Pipework and Mechanical Engineering.
What are the entry requirements?
This multi-disciplinary course is designed as a first step for learners seeking a career in the engineering sector which includes; electrical, fabrication, welding, pipework and mechanical engineering.
A - G grades or grades 2/3 minimum are required in maths, English and science. Applicants will be expected to attend a pre-entry assessment and interview.
What subjects will I study?
The Programme is made up of the EAL Level 1 Certificate in Engineering Technology and practical workshop experience. The course will raise awareness of the vast range of opportunities in the engineering and manufacturing sector.
Every full-time course will include a real experience of work.
Maths and English are an integral part of this course and will be assessed at the relevant levels.
How will I learn?
A combination of workshop style, hands on and taught classroom sessions.
How will I be assessed?
Through projects and assessments.
What opportunities will this lead to?
Students can progress on to the Level 2 Engineering Foundation Programme or an Apprenticeship. Progression is based on aptitude and a successful interview.
How long is the course?
Full-time over one year. Approximately 3 days a week.
Are there any additional costs?
You will need overalls, boots, stationery and drawing equipment.
