What are the entry requirements?
The Level 1 Construction Crafts Diploma or equivalent qualification.
What subjects will I study?
This full-time programme is for those wishing to acquire an understanding of the construction industry, combined with practical skills, before taking up employment as a craftsperson in the industry. The programme includes a Level 2 qualification in an appropriate craft discipline.
Every full-time course will include a real experience of work.
Maths and English form part of this course and will be assessed at the relevant levels.
How will I learn?
As a student on this course you will have:
the opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge required by people wishing to be employed in the construction industry.
practical training in a craft workshop
study time for theory work that is organised through workbooks and with taught classroom sessions
individual tutorial support
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed continually throughout the year on practical work by observation and building a portfolio of evidence and by synoptic assessment at the end of the year. Theory work is assessed in Construction by the use of multiple-choice exams throughout the year and at the end of the year. You will also undertake a core assignment which is assessed throughout the year.
What opportunities will this lead to?
An Advanced Apprenticeship within the construction industry. Progression is based on aptitude and a successful interview.
How long is the course?
Full-time over one year.
Are there any additional costs?
You will need boots, overalls, stationery and drawing equipment.
