Apprenticeship in Customer Services
Apprenticeships in Customer Service are for anyone who works in, or wants to work in, customer service in a wide range of different industries.
What are the entry requirements?
These are dependent on the sector and the criteria of some employers, but they are normally:
Apprentice Level 2: A minimum of four GCSEs at grades A ? E, grades 9-3, or an equivalent qualification.
Advanced Apprentice Level 3: An Apprenticeship at Level 2 or other equivalent qualification
Higher Level Apprenticeship Level 4: These are available in some subject areas; but in all instances you will need to be already qualified to Level 3.
What subjects will I study?
Apprentice ? Level 2
Units studied may include: delivering customer service, understanding customers, principles of customer service, understanding employer organisations and managing personal performance and development.
Advanced Apprentice ? Level 3
Units studied may include: organising and delivering customer service, understanding the customer service environment, understanding customers and customer retention, resolving customers? problems, principles of business and managing personal and professional development.
How will I learn?
An Apprenticeship framework is made up of practical work based training (with your employer), training to support the theory and knowledge of your vocational area and general skill qualifications in maths, English and IT. You will also learn about employee rights and responsibilities, personal, learning and thinking skills and depending on which area of training you undertake, some of this learning may take place in college.
How will I be assessed?
The Apprenticeship is assessed on practical aptitude, a portfolio of work and external assessment. Maths and English are assessed by examination and a portfolio of evidence.
What opportunities will this lead to?
Once the Apprenticeship has finished there is the opportunity to carry on working, maybe get promoted or if appropriate, progress onto advanced level apprenticeships. In some instances you can go on to higher education in a college or university.
How long is the course?
They usually take from one to three years to complete.
Are there any additional costs?
There are no specific extra costs, just stationery for study.
