A Level Media Studies
You will be interested in the modern media as well as wanting to produce your own media work.
Students often progress to further work in a media related area, whether academic or vocational. Others access a wide range of other degrees. Knowledge and understanding of the media is increasingly valued across industry as an important aspect of living and working in the digital age.
You will be introduced to the fundamentals of media texts, concepts and contexts, developing an ability to interpret a media text as well as to study a broad, cross-media topic like broadcast or film fiction, documentary, lifestyle, music, news or sport. You will research, plan, produce and evaluate examples of products typical of the modern broadcasting, web-based or print media. Later on, you?ll deepen your understanding of the media, drawing in some media theory and discussing modern media issues and debates.
Lessons will involve a variety of teaching methods and learning activities, including pair and group work, discussion and individual research. Teaching of the theoretical topics will be followed by opportunities to put such theory into practice.
There are no specific entry requirements to study media studies at this level, although you must meet the general entry requirements.
