Facilities

Furness College continues to invest many thousands of pounds in its education and training resources so that you really will receive the very best.

We are committed to providing accommodation and resources that are accessible to all our students and that meet and surpass current disability legislation. All our buildings provide wheelchair access, with the majority having automatic doors and lifts to upper floors. They incorporate disabled toilets and improved lighting systems. We have a number of designated disabled parking sites around the campus.

Many of our classrooms, lecture halls and conference facilities incorporate state-of-the-art technology providing exceptional sound qualities without being visually intrusive, using Soundfield enhancement systems.

Our room signage is both tactile and in Braille. Our doors now incorporate low-level vision panels and handles in contrasting colours. All our reception desks, including student services and the refectory, have low level surfaces and are fitted with induction loop systems.

The Learning Resources Centre is equipped with height-adjustable desks together with specific resources and facilities. Special features of the Life Skills kitchen include appliances that are electronically height-adjustable for wheelchair users. Our Mercedes minibus has hydraulic wheelchair ramps and can accommodate up to five wheelchair users.
