Summary

The Diploma is a work-based qualification which covers the skills and knowledge needed to care for others in a broad range of health and social care settings. It is flexible to suit all fields of health and social care and you can choose one of the following pathways that suits your role:

• Working with people with Dementia
• Working with people with Learning Disabilities
• Working with children and young people

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. The Level Diploma is suitable for healthcare assistants, support workers and care workers.

What subjects will I study?

Diploma in Health & Social Care L2.

To achieve this qualification learners must achieve a minimum of 46 credits for a level 2. You will achieve 9 mandatory units and choose a further 7-8 optional units made up of knowledge and competence skills.

How will I learn?

You are usually employed for at least 16 hours per week. To gain this qualification, you need to show you have a particular set of skills. You will work with your assessor to identify your current skills and find the best way to gain new skills.

You will also:

• Receive tuition to support the underpinning knowledge required for your Diploma
• Have the opportunity to work towards additional qualifications relevant to your employment
• Receive regular monitoring and assessment

How will I be assessed?

The Diploma is assessed on practical aptitude, a portfolio of work and external assessment.

What opportunities will this lead to?

• Progression from Level 2 to Level 3.
