BTEC National Diploma in Electrical /Electronic Engineering awarded by Pearson. This course is designed to fulfill the requirements of the Electrical Technician Apprenticeship Programme and is studied on a part time basis over 2 years. This usually involves day release attendance at college along with a night class.

What are the entry requirements?

• Four GCSEs at grade C or above to include mathematics and science
• GNVQ Intermediate
• C&G Level 2 or equivalent
• Relevant Industrial experience

What subjects will I study?

Over the 2 years you will cover 120 credits made up of modules which include:

• Maths for engineering technicians
• Mechanical Principals
• Electrical Principals
• Engineering drawing
• Engineering project
• Health and Safety
• Communications for Engineering technicians
• Devices and circuits
• Measurement and testing

How will I learn?

The units are delivered by a combination of lectures, practical lab sessions.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed by a combination of formal assessments and assignments. A portfolio of evidence is assembled for each unit.

What opportunities will this lead to?

Progression to Higher Education & University including Higher National Diplomas or an Engineering Degree subject to achieving the appropriate grades.

How long is the course?

The course is part time, day release and evening classes over two years. The course is 10.5 hours per week for 34 weeks per year.
