VTCT Level 2 The Art of Photographic Make-up

Summary

This unit is about developing creative design skills for photographic make-up. The ability to plan and create different make-up looks is required in this unit.

What are the entry requirements?

A minimum qualification in Level 2 Apply Make up, Level 2 Beauty Therapy or a media make up qualification. You may also have prior experience of application of make up with in the Media Make up Industry. You will be required to attend an interview.

What subjects will I study?

You will study a range of topics including;

The application and techniques to create photographic make up including creating:
Bridal, Period and Fantasy make up.

How will I learn?

You will learn by working in a realistic salon environment at your own pace. Before practical work begins you will study the underpinning knowledge required through assignment work and your tutors will demonstrate the skills necessary.

How will I be assessed?

All the practical work is assessed in salon on clients. You will also prove your knowledge of practical work through oral questions. A portfolio of evidence is built up throughout the course.

This is a professional qualification and high standards of personal appearance and conduct will be required. Assessments are carried out in the salon and must be to a professional standard.

What opportunities will this lead to?

NVQ Level 3 Theatrical and Media Make up, Airbrush make up, Camouflage make up and employment within the make up industry.

How long is the course?

The course is one day a week (3 hours) over the academic year. This will include practical work in the college salon as well as theory work.

Are there any additional costs?

There is a dress code of black tunic with red piping trim, black cardigan and black trousers. (The uniform is to be purchased through college). Black flat closed toe shoes must be purchased independently.

All equipment and products are provided on the course.

You will be required to purchase a kit and bring this to each session.
