Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Technologies

Summary

This course is ideally suited to those students who wish to develop both practical skills and technical knowledge and wish to progress to a higher level in engineering.

What are the entry requirements?

The Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering Technologies.

What subjects will I study?

The course will cover mechanical, electrical, fabrication and weldking or pipework elements allowing students to develop a higher level of skills in these areas.

Every full-time course will include a real experience of work.

Maths and English are an integral part of this course and will be assessed at the relevant levels.

How will I learn?

A combination of workshop style, hands on and taught classroom sessions using industry standard equipment & lab facilities.

How will I be assessed?

You will be required to complete training tasks, practical competence tests, a portfolio of work, internal & external exams. These tasks will be internally set and marked with external moderation.

What opportunities will this lead to?

Progression on to a National Diploma or an Apprenticeship. Progression is based on aptitude and a successful interview. Students can be employed in the industry in jobs such as CAD operators, draughting or technical engineering roles.

How long is the course?

Full-time over one year. Approximately 2.5 days per week.

Are there any additional costs?

You will need boots, overalls, and stationery equipment.
